The opportunity
Norman Carriers have been in operation for over 65 years. They are a family owned Australian company specialising in wharf cartage and delivery of general freight across Melbourne.
The position of Operations Support will work alongside the Fleet Controllers to handle the day to day administration tasks.
This opportunity will suit someone who is efficient, demonstrates great customer service skills and is ready to hit the ground running.
The role has a strong administration focus and will see your involvement in the following key areas:
- Inputting of export jobs into a Freight Tracker software system
- Booking empty container time slots
- Allocating containers/trucks to empty container time slots
- Updating vehicle movements in Freight Tracker software, where required
- Liaising with internal staff regarding loose load availability
- Liaising with clients regarding deliveries
- Preparing future deliveries
- Maintaining contact with drivers and their positions
Key skills/experience
- Demonstrate operational administration experience – previous logistics industry experience highly regarded
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong computer and keyboard skills
- Show a sound knowledge of administrative systems and procedures, with a desire for process improvement
- Ability to navigate a fast-paced environment
- Proven customer service experience
- Basic understanding of transport legislation, fatigue management, mass management
- Proven ability to meet KPI’s and SLA’s.
- Eager to learn all aspects of the business and be trained to step up into fleet controlling when required
