Based at our head office in Pinkenba, this role will see you responsible for determining and managing adequate inventory levels to meet customer delivery service expectations for Make-To-Stock, Make-To-Order and Purchased Finished Goods products, meeting inventory objectives and supervising a team of Production Planners.

Role responsibilities

• Monitor, apply judgment and react to inventory, backorder and service levels of manufactured finished goods to achieve customer service and business objectives
• Ensure that production orders are scheduled while optimizing manufacturing sequence.
• Consider set-up time, scrap, material changes, component availability, and lot sizing
• Ensure that MRP exception reports are managed for manufactured parts while optimizing on-hand inventory and meeting service requirements
• Ensure that material supply issues are communicated proactively with all required business functions
• Ensure that appropriate material plant and other master data are maintained in the ERP and other systems as necessary.
• Assume a front-line leadership role in resolving shortages of purchased materials and customer expedites that require escalation through operations
• Investigate performance gaps for stock availability, lead time and backorders as required to communicate production status throughout the organization
• Investigate root cause analysis for JIFOT failures for the plant
• Participate in capacity and labour planning analysis for manufacturing work centres.  Recommend capacity adjustments as needed based on demand analysis
• Supervise the team and act on poor standards of performance as required and realise good performance as appropriate, including use of disciplinary measures where appropriate
• Support the co-ordination of training, mentoring and coaching to set team members up for success

Your profile 

To qualify for this position, you must have as a minimum, the following:

• Must have at least 3 years of experience with ERP systems in a production planning environment using MRP
• Intermediate skills in MS-Office tools (particularly Excel charting, data sorting, filtering, pivot-tables, look-up)
• Ability to manage pressure/change/multiple deadlines
• Ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders
• Clear and effective communication skills (written and verbal)

• Well-developed relationship skills in a business environment
