About the role

We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest for the position of Base Manager based at our Broome operations. Reporting to the Manager Operations, this role is responsible for the day to day management of all Business and Operational Base activities to meet CHC and Client contractual requirements creating the safest possible environment. The Base Manager will ensure that the base and its people are compliant to all legislative and regulatory requirements whilst ensuring profitability.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Act as a visible safety champion and will challenge unsafe acts and pursue improvements in safety culture and behavior.
  • Act as a visible leader of all global and regional initiatives in relation to Safety, business KPI's, people, finance and a relentless advocate of integrity at all levels.
  • Develop highly effective and productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build team capabilities by developing self and others to deliver time and time again.
  • Accountable to ensure KPI targets are achieved at the Base Level.
  • Provide day-to-day direction to the team in line with CHC polices & procedures. 
  • Support Manager Operations in all aspects of the operations on the base.
  • Actively respond and resolve conflicts and disciplinary issues on the base as per Enterprise Agreements.
  • Ensure engagement levels on the base is high and that communication is two way.
  • Proactively identify and establish continuous improvements in base operations including embracing new systems and technologies such as AIMS, AMOS and Workday.
  • Ensure base facilities and aircraft are maintained in a clean and tidy condition at all times in accordance with regulations.
  • Responsible for the general upkeep of the buildings and grounds of the assigned base.
  • Responsible to the relevant manager for the allocation of crews to cover daily base requirements while adhering to the duty limitations and fatigue risk management systems.
  • Manage all principle OMA accountabilities as outlined in the company's operations Manual Part A.
  • Support Manager Operations with customer reviews, metrics and service
  • Manage local country partnerships to provide sound execution of all contracts.
  • Efficient & cost effective control, planning & administration of the base.
  • Manages base expenses to approved budget.
  • Manage all principle SMS accountabilities as outlined in the company's SMS compliance procedures.
  • Measure prevention through early detection and avoidance of shortfalls.
  • Travel to respective operations where required.

Skills and experience

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in an Operations Management role and preferably in a similar industry.
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills.
  • Conflict management and negotiation skills within an operational environment.
  • Team player with exceptional organizational and communications skills.
  • Strong problem solving and excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong understanding of operations, logistics management and resourcing.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of high capacity operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage primary safety and business objectives.
  • Financial/Accounting skills.
  • Ability to hold and maintain an ASIC card.
  • Adaptable and Flexible approach to adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Aviation experience highly regarded.
