ION Infrastructure is pleased to offer the chance to be part of a ground-breaking rail signalling team based in New South Wales.

We have successfully deployed personnel on the ARTC, Sydney Trains, John Holland Country Regional Networks (CRN) and several other Australian Rail Transport Operators as well as other blue-chip companies to deliver signalling maintenance and construction projects and are now seeking a number of additional key staff, who are:

  • Fully conversant and qualified in any or all of the following: ARTC, Sydney Trains, NSW Trains and CRN rail signalling and points maintenance
  • Signalling call-out work
  • Associated civil aspects of the rail infrastructure environment

We seek the following key skilled personnel:

Rail Signalling Electricians – applicants must meet some or all of the following criteria:

  • Have an electrical license for ARTC, Sydney and NSW Trains or a transferable interstate license;
  • Hold a current Cert IV Electrical Qualification in Rail Signalling:
  • Have knowledge and experience in some or all aspects of the ARTC, Sydney and NSW Trains Rail (or similar) signalling systems, including wayside equipment and control systems.
  • Hold, as a minimum, ARTC level 2 or Sydney Trains level 1 in all Points Machines, Microlok, Microtrax, CSEE, Axle counters, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake systematic review as part of fault rectification and maintenance;
  • Have experience in signalling installation/construction, maintenance and fault-finding for the various types of signalling equipment being used on the ARTC, Sydney and NSW Trains systems;
  • Be fully conversant in Railway Safety Systems and either hold, or have the ability to secure, a Rail Industry Worker (Pegasus) Card with competencies at the level required for this role;
  • Have the ability to undertake tasks with diligence and work independently or as part of a wider team;
  • Show certified experience and details of compliance with Electrical Codes of Practice and similar WHS standards;
  • Experience of, or ability to undertake, shift working rosters and call duties in a rail environment;

Roles and responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

Signal Electrician (maintenance/construction)

1. Install, maintain and repair signalling equipment including telemetry equipment in accordance with predefined work programs.

2. Repair and adjust mechanical signalling equipment as required.

3. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) requirements and legislative policies including work activities performed by subordinate employees.

4. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with technical and operational specification and standards including work activities performed by subordinate employees.

5. Maintain all records and associated documentation relating to asset condition, maintenance programs and costing systems.

6. Report on actual work performed against the scheduled work program, and report any equipment performance and condition irregularities.

7. Progress the implementation and application of work procedures and practices in pursuit of ensuring continuous quality improvement.

Reporting Relationships

You, the employee will be required to :-

- Comply with the ION NEXUS Code of Conduct;

- Observe all legal and safety obligations of the organisation; 

- Be available for call out/standby duties and reasonable overtime. 

- Be available to work away from home station and travel as required;

- Undertake further training considered necessary for the effective performance of the duties associated with the position and career development;

- Work in a semi-autonomous manner within broad guidelines.

These positions are available on a fixed or permanent engagement and priority will be given to those who are currently certified to meet the required level. However; we are willing to assist applicants who are not yet fully qualified or experienced in ARTC, Sydney and NSW Trains signalling systems, but have relevant experience.

These openings are based around the Sydney, Southern NSW, Lower, Middle and Upper Hunter Valley regions. Our aim is to have locally based teams so appropriate support will be provided to relocate successful applicants if required.
