TRADE ASSISTANT – METALS FABRICATION

Located in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, Diver Consolidated Industries (DCI) is a leading manufacturer of metal pressings, welded assemblies, hinges and heat and acoustic shields for many diverse industries.

DCI currently requires a day shift Metal Trades Assistant for an immediate start.

The Metal Trades Assistant will:

• accurately cut, grind and drill components in preparation for welding
• inspect  and measure cut and ground components for accuracy
• assist tradespersons
• MIG/TIG weld components  as required
• assemble and clamp metal components into weld jigs
• inspect welded assemblies for weld quality and correct assembly and keep a record of daily operations
• maintain the cleanliness of the general working area
• work as part of a team as required.

To succeed in this role you must be:

• able to use cutting, sawing, grinding, drilling and various hand/power tools and machine shop equipment
• able to read drawings
• able to MIG and TIG weld (would be an advantage but not essential)
• physically fit,
• a self starter,
• able to work with limited supervision and can work independently,
• aware of and follow safe work practices,
• focused on attention to detail
• punctual and reliable
