The main role of the Transport Manager is to effectively manage and organise the transport of customer’s products for Dangerous & Non Goods to depots and warehouses both intra and interstate. The position exists to ensure that the product is despatched in a timely and cost effective manner.

The Role

  • To further develop and maintain a safe workplace
  • To oversee and develop safety procedures and policies for the site
  • To ensure fatigue management compliance and manage driver fatigue breaks
  • Ensure all dangerous goods are stored and handled correctly
  • Ensure all staff members are adequately trained and inducted for their functions
  • To monitor, supervise and provide instruction to all staff members and subcontractors
  • Ensure that all vehicles comply with customer standards (e.g. double tarped, angles, etc.)
  • To ensure all incidents and near misses are reported and investigated
  • Compliance to the Toll Logistics Business Improvement Programme Quality, Risk and Human Resource Reference Manuals and the Toll Logistics Workplace Standards and Codes of Practices Out of Service and Danger Tags and the Toll Logistics Employee Handbook
  • Complete Manuel / electronic load planning and job allocation to mobile data terminals

Requirements


  • Experience managing financial responsibilities (Essential)
  • Organising job quotes and costings
  • Experience working with dangerous goods in a warehouse/transport environment (Highly advantageous)
  • Knowledge of transport and distribution best practice
  • Ability to determine manpower and equipment to meet scheduled workloads, using the flexibility provided by the Enterprise Agreement to minimise labour costs
  • Proven ability to problem solve under pressure in a high paced environment
  • Understanding of the use of Key Performance Indicators in the management of a business unit
  • How to recognise and highlight unsafe acts and conditions
  • Ability to identify and remedy operational inefficiencies and service problems
  • Able to maintain cost effective staffing levels
