Position purpose:

 

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure Safety, the System & Quality Assurance Manager will support a 24 hour - 7 day a week business and will be responsible for providing professional advice in the areas of Occupational Health & Safety, Investigations, Audits and Inspections, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and provide coaching and mentoring to employees in their obligations and responsibilities under relevant legislation and Metro policies.

 

Key responsibilities:

 
  • Assist in development of Metro Infrastructure Quality Assurance and WHS procedures as required ensuring compliance with the MTM safety management system and legislative requirements
  • Attend incident sites as required to assist Infrastructure Business Unit Managers to monitor health and safety of all persons on the site prepare investigations and ensure all notification requirements are met
  • Facilitate/Lead investigations as per the MTM Investigation and reporting processes. Ensure all investigations are completed in a timely manner, actions monitored until closed out
  • Review investigations to ensure consistency and accuracy relating to process and outcomes are achieved
  • Conduct workplace audits and inspections to ensure observance of safety requirements and provide feedback and associated recommendations to the relevant responsible manager on any unsafe work practices, conditions, procedures or operations
  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of incidents and non-conformances related to Rail Safety, Safety, Risk and Environmental incidents or process deficiencies
  • Conduct Internal Audits and Workplace Inspections
  • Facilitate Risk Management reviews
  • Facilitate closure of Non-conformance Actions
  • Regular Reporting including Incident Statistics
  • Other duties as required

 

Education, experience and skills required:


  • Working towards a tertiary Safety related qualification – Cert IV in OHS minimum
  • Demonstrated experience in ISO 9001, AS/NZS 4801, ISO 14001
  • Internal Auditor Qualification
  • Lead Investigator (ICAM Preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience of implementing safety management systems and continual improvement
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in conducting and Leading Internal Audits
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in conducting Workplace Inspections
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in rail operations, construction, aviation or manufacturing involving high risk environments and proven ability to conduct audits and investigations in large, complex environments
  • Knowledge of Personnel Policy and Practices and the Code of Behaviour including zero blood level legislation
  • Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
  • Demonstrated experience in Risk Management
