My client has over 50 years experience in the steel industry and have earned a reputation for reliability, flexibility and excellent service. They are one of the largest steel supply groups in Australia and have very strong partnerships with other steel producers throughout Australia.
Description
The main objectives of the role are (but not limited to):
- To manage and maintain the smooth, cost efficient and safe operation of the distribution facility
- To manage the logistical/transport requirements of the business
- To manage the processing department, ensuring divisional profitability and ensuring plant utilisation is optimised to meet customer requirements
- To enhance existing procedures and drive operational excellence throughout the site
- To assist sales, estimation and programming with forecasts for delivery dates for processed material
- To achieve completion of processed orders in a cost effective way
Profile
The skills and knowledge required from the successful candidate are as follows:
- Proven experience managing teams of 40+ employees
- Proven experience within steel industry, or ability to provide evidence that skills are transferable
- Knowledge of materials handling equipment
- High level of computer skills
- Effective communicator
- WHS and Organisational Excellence skills
