This company is a leader in their field and specialises in commercial projects orientation with their core focus on schools and aged care facilities. They are a family owned business located in the Blue Mountains region, and are looking for a new permanent Factory Workshop Manager to join their growing team.

The Workshop Factory Manager oversees the fabrication process within the workshop, from planning through to delivery within the agreed time frame and budget

Duties will consist of:

  • Quality, work with the senior management to create and maintain quality control and standard operating procedures for all workshop processes
  • Budget, ensure all works are completed within agreed budgetary requirements of time and cost
  • WHS, work with the senior management to create, maintain and enforce WHS safe work practices
  • Team Supervision, supervise all workshop staff delegating to each as required, working to deliver on expectations.
  • Consumables, purchasing required consumables within budget and maintaining sufficient levels of stock to meet workshop demands
  • Reporting, provide concise reporting as requested by senior management in a timely manner

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Purchasing and expenditure occurs within the appropriate budgetary guidelines
  • Deliveries are made within the agreed time frame
  • Stock control and management
  • Divisional meetings occur as scheduled
  • Operations occur in compliance with the Company safety policy
  • Work with and motivate team members to improve production efficiencies in line with operational KPI's
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures and safety standards and foster an environment of good house-keeping practices and Quality Compliance.
  • Oversee planning & Scheduling activities to optimize capacity and labour levels and minimize cost
  • Mentoring, training and conflict resolution
  • Prioritise orders based on urgency and to maximise production efficiency's
  • Communicate production status to internal stakeholders, and ensure delivery dates are met.

Essential Criteria:

You will come from an engineering/manufacturing background and either be in a similar position or have the aspiration to take the next step in your career. As well as demonstrating strong drive and interpersonal skills, you will also possess a mix of technical and operations experience to ensure the business functions at optimal levels.

You will be highly process oriented and analytical, with very strong relationship building, influencing and leadership skills.

The successful candidate will also possess the following:

  • Proven track record in delivering results against set objectives.
  • Production planning / scheduling experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to managing Health and Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement.
  • Superior organisational and strategic planning skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Qualified Welder
  • Forklift licence
  • 5 Years’ experience
  • Leadership for a team of 10
  • First aid certificate
  • Independent worker
  • Disciplined
  • Self-starter
