Looking for a Purchasing Officer position with an industry leader where you can be valued and form strong partnerships? Boral’s Berrima site has a contract opportunity (initially 8 month term) for a team player to join a close knit, family like team who pride themselves on their strong work ethic, ability to deliver positive outcomes and effective, efficient solutions.
Working with internal, site based and external partners, you will procure at best value, goods and services that are required for the operation and maintenance of the various business sites served by the Boral Procurement Team. Use your inquiring mind, aptitude for mechanical and engineering requirements and attention to detail to ensure customer focused outcomes in a fast paced environment.
As a Purchasing Officer, your key duties and responsibilities will cover
- Efficient and timely purchase of requestioned items, services and other purchases
- Obtaining the best overall purchasing value for Boral during the sourcing and buying process and supporting the team’s value delivery targets
- Following up purchases to ensure delivery within a suitable time
- Assisting other members of the Procurement team and the business’s Inventory officers as required and providing relief for the Procurement and Inventory officers in times of absence
- Compliance with statutory and standard operating procedures
You may be an experienced Maintenance Planner, Project Manager or Graduate Engineer with a trade or qualifications and experience as follows
- Purchasing experience within an industrial environment beneficial
- Intermediate skills in the use of PC based tools (such as MS Excel, MS Word, Google mail), purchasing and inventory systems (such as Maximo, Oracle) and or related applications with high level data entry skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in oral and written mode, work without supervision and with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment, supportive with a lending a hand, pitch in and help approach
- Customer centric approach to procurement, strong relationship building skills
- Ability to juggle and prioritise competing, urgent requirements
- Strong negotiation skills, ability to effectively influence stakeholders, small and large groups
- Knowledge of procurement requirements of the cement industry an advantage
- NSW Drivers Licence
