• This permanent role is located in Moorebank although some travel is required.

Drive our strong safety culture whilst continually working on the improvement, efficiency and capability of the transport function.  Work closely with our business units and branch network to implement national strategies and identify and execute business improvements to achieve overall efficiency and effectiveness of the transport management

Your primary duties and responsibilities will include:

• Demonstrate Safety Leadership by leading Coates Hire’s Safety First - Zero Harm safety culture
• Provide transport operations expertise, driving high levels of safety, efficiency, profitability and cost saving
• Recommend an effective blend of internal and external transport to meet both customer and business needs
• Source the most cost effective means of transportation for equipment to ensure maximum recovery of transport charges
• Lead and influence change through the transport function as required
• Track key performance indicators, identifying opportunities to achieve operational and safety excellence
• Implement processes within business units that support a lean and efficient overall transport strategy
• Working with BU managers, ensure transport related disputes are resolved in a timely manner
• Provide effective management for all transport breakdowns to minimise downtime
• Ensure service standards are achieved through strong relationships with key customers, suppliers and business stakeholders

Skills & Expertise:

We anticipate the successful candidate will bring a history of managing transport solutions. This will include strong transport operations/logistics knowledge with a deep understanding of OH&S transport legislation and regulations. In addition to the use of transport technology systems to manage assets, inventory and purchasing will be the ability to analyse data across a number of key performance areas, and from this act upon the information to enhance the transport function.  The success of this position is also reliant upon strong negotiation & influencing skills with the ability to drive outcomes, and project and change management skills with the talent to communicate and manage a variety of stakeholders.

This role is not without its challenges! It will require managing a large number of transport contractors and ensuring they adhere to our company policies. Ensuring compliance to transport and safety standards whilst managing transport costs, all whilst influencing change. As such, you will need to have had a similar role for at least 5 years and completed relevant tertiary qualifications.
