Wettenhalls has a vacancy for a National Fleet and Maintenance manager who is required to provide leadership and management of the Company workshops and fleet capability.
About the role
We are seeking a General Manager Fleet and Maintenance. This role is a part of the Company Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for managing the workshop capability to ensure that our fleet is compliant with the National Heavy Vehicle Law and is fit for purpose.
The position will provide advice on the fleet management aspects of type and age of fleet capability, fleet asset composition to support customer solutions and the distribution of fleet across the company in conjunction with the GM Operations.
The role manages the company's approach to lifecycle management for all fleet and trailing equipment and provides advice for all new equipment in relation to its maintainability, costs and effectiveness over its life cycle.
About you
You are an energetic and process focussed leader with an absolute commitment to safety and compliance. You will have formal qualifications in the automotive / maintenance industry and have a passion for delivering. You will have substantial mobile fleet & asset management experience gathered in a transport, aerospace, or military environment.
You will have the leadership capabilities to nurture & grow a significant team with the financial competency to devise, execute and manage operational & capital budgets.
You will have experience in building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including suppliers and regulators.
You will have knowledge of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulations, Chain of Responsibility and exposure to process improvement e.g., Lean methodologies and their implementation.
Ideally you will be competent at strategic planning, and have a solid background of project organisation, data assimilation and work flow prioritisation to achieve immediate and long-term goals.
Ideally you have successfully run a workshop or maintenance operation and are now looking to take it to the next level.

We are a successful and progressive logistics company headquartered in Victoria with national operations. The majority of our fleet is based in Victoria with significant fleet (prime movers and trailers) in NSW and QLD. Our fleet consists of over 150 vehicles and 310 trailers. We utilise the latest technology in our fleet including fatigue management systems, telematics and vehicle safety technology. We have recently undertaken a major recapitalisation of our prime movers and trailing equipment. We current operate three fixed workshops that provide mobile breakdown services and have a number of service agreements with external suppliers for interstate assets.
