About the business

Harvestco Australia was formed by three timber industry experts in late 2006 with a successful tender securing the first harvesting and haulage services with the Forest Corporation of South Australia (Forestry SA) in Mount Gambier. The company commenced operations in January 2007 with four full-time employees, a harvester and a forwarder under a 5 year, 150,000 GMTPA (gross million metric tons per annum) contract with Forestry SA.

Over the past 10 years Harvestco has grown to a group of ten companies supplying eight separate landowners with harvest, haulage, site preparation, roading, and fire- fighting services. Today Harvestco has 80 employees, 60 machines, and 6 trucks servicing Mount Gambier (SA) Adelaide (SA), South-Western Victoria, Gippsland (Vic) Northern New South Wales, and South-Eastern Queensland.

Harvestco has the largest fleet of mechanised cut-to-length harvesting machines in Australia, as well as haulage vehicles and equipment, and various other plant and equipment. Harvesting operations are currently in excess of 1.5 GMTPA with a "Blue Chip" client base including Government, industrial, and timber investment management organisations.

About the role

LOG TRUCK DRIVERS

Harvestco's log truck drivers are responsible for assisting with the loading and unloading of log trucks where qualified, and completing regular log haulage based on weekly quotas. 

Drivers are responsible for ensuring that scheduling and consignment terms comply with Harvestco's fatigue management requirements and relevant transport and safety legislation.

Key Result Areas are truck driving, loading/unloading, safety, code of conduct, and quality standards.

MACHINE OPERATORS

Harvestco's machine operators are responsible for operating and maintaining harvesting and forwarding machinery in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with management systems, operator manuals, landowner requirements and management requests, to ensure that production needs and quotas are met.

Operators are required to complete daily pre-start checks and comply with Harvestco's fatigue management requirements and relevant safety legislation.

Key Result Areas include production outputs, log checks, safety compliance, code of conduct, and quality standards.
