We have an opportunity for an experienced Test and Commissioning Coordinator to join Newcastle Light Rail at our Hamilton site for a fixed term of (6) six months. In this role you will be responsible for coordinating the commissioning phase of Light Rail with the objective to ensure that the project is handed over successfully, from completion of construction works, pre-operations testing and commissioning.

About the role

The Fixed Term role of the Testing and Commissioning Coordinator is to support the Newcastle Light Rail test and commissioning activities by supporting occupation and resource planning and providing operational input into the tests to be conducted.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review any necessary Light Rail test and commissioning documents, process or procedures to allow the safe interaction between Newcastle Transport and Keolis Downer during test and commissioning.
  • Review test documentation and participate in risk workshops.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to support the identification of resources needed to support Light Rail test and commissioning.
  • Assist to coordinate resources needed to support testing.
  • Organise occupations and resources to support the testing and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare operational procedures to ensure Keolis Downer is ready to undertake passenger services
  • Participate in test and commissioning activity as required.
  • Ensure that safety of the operating railway is not compromised and promote a safety culture within test and commissioning activity.

About your experience:

Applicants should preferably possess experience across the following areas:

  • Qualifications in Transport Planning, Rail Operations, Business Management, Engineering, Risk Management or equivalent.
  • Hold or working towards a Certificate IV in training and assessment
  • Ability to work as a Rail Safety Worker Category 1
  • Experience in managing a wide range of stakeholders groups.
  • Demonstrated experience in a light rail test and commissioning environment.
  • Experience in implementing complex systems into the rail network.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in a related role (Stakeholder coordination, test planning, resource management)
  • Ability to speak French would be highly beneficial
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Newcastle network, Light Rail operation procedures, Light Rail fleet, control systems, stations and customer services, infrastructure and associated systems of operation, signalling and safe working systems is highly desirable.
