Reporting to the Superintendent Rail Control, you will play an integral role by:
- Ensuring the safety of BHP’s Rail Personnel is your team’s number 1 priority
- Coaching / mentoring your team to ensure maximum Rail Operation efficiency
- Auditing performance and utilising findings to tailor coaching sessions
- Allocating staffing and team resources to effectively operate the Rail Control Centre
- Acting as an advocate for flexible work practices. Where possible, enabling flexible working within your team
- Collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders spread across 5 geographical areas
- Ensuring training requirements are up to date across the team
- Reporting on and actioning incidents and supporting investigations where required
- Ensuring levels of employee engagement remain high
- Setting you up for success, you will benefit from 12 weeks of comprehensive training with the Team’s CDO, ensuring you have a thorough understanding of the rail network, people and protocols before commencing into your role.
As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
- A sound understanding of Rail Safety
- Demonstrated leadership ability across all aspects of an employee’s lifecycle (recruitment, on-boarding, coaching, development and succession planning)
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience building relationships with a range of stakeholders
- A current West Australian C Class drivers licence

Location
Working on a Sportsman Roster (mix of days and nights), you will be based in our state of the art Control Centre based in Perth, Western Australia. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, world class facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues.
