Currently opportunities exist for Skilled Knife Hands to join our progressive team.

The Position

• Assist slaughter personnel and boners to slice primals, subprimals and trim to customer specifications, while retaining maximum yield.
• Identify and report any abnormalities in process, product or product build-up to Supervisor
• Removal of defects from the meat product such as: paddywhack pieces, blood clots, bruises, pieces of bone, cartilage, hide, hair, nodules, glands, sinews, exposed nerves, veins and arteries, brisket nodules, and fibrous fatty tissue.
• Ensuring trim, offcuts and defects are separated and placed down the correct chutes/belts.
• When required, identify and confidently use the appropriate template.
• Follow any and all instructions given by Supervisors, Trainers and/or QA/QC staff.
• Regular sterilisation of equipment.

The successful candidates will possess:

• Prior experience in the role in a commercial setting (essential) - Additional entry level positions are also available
• Competent in knife hand and knife sharpening skills (this will be assessed by a Supervisor and/or Trainer to ensure a satisfactory skill set is possessed by the candidate)
• Excellent work ethic and keen eye for detail.
• A reliable and enthusiastic, 'can do' attitude
• Willing to continually learn and improve skills and knowledge.
• Proven experience performing manual labour in a fast paced environment
• Willingness to undergo the recruitment process, including a drug and alcohol test, pre-employment medical and functional assessment
