The Inventory Planner position is a key role in our team, and is responsible for optimising inventory levels, balancing cost to carry and risk of not carrying inventory.

Some of the key accountabilities and functions of the role include;

  • Provide MM input in the upfront work scheduling and planning process
  • Investigate variations between planned and actual material deliveries
  • Execute replenishment by running forecasting and analysis of known demand
  • Optimise Inventory by reviewing and identifying dormant, excess & obsolescence
  • Support turnarounds, pit stops, unplanned shutdowns & outages warehouse/country/business
  • Perform OU/ cross site/ regional demand synergies/supply analysis
  • Identify opportunities using obsolescence reports, analyse stock redeployment opportunities, inventory control reports
  • Prepare annual plan for inventory review and seek sign off from business
  • Surplus identification and take measures to prevent buildup of excess stock
  • Monitor Inventory KPI and inventory performance against targets
  • Develop implementation & maintenance of inventory work process improvements
  • Provide advisory support to Site Lead and Warehouse Lead
  • Develop and review inventory & disposal policy
  • Review standard inventory report and analysis output from MM Analyst to fulfil OU/ OpCo specific requirements
  • Provide early planning and input into the on-boarding approach for the purchasing of a new asset from the MM perspective
  • Review proposed spare parts / BOMs list to ensure that the MRD transfers are set up in Shell systems correctly and stocking decisions are set up in line with current inventory philosophy
  • Where required, manage third party contractors involved with executing SAP upload into Shell’s existing systems

The candidate we are therefore seeking for this position, will have;

  • Knowledge of materials and services within the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industry
  • Experience in articulating or using the principles and concepts of stock level management and inventory management, data standardisation, cataloguing and data clean-up
  • Knowledge of or experience in execution of key inventory management activities, including; planning & replenishment,  forecasting & demand management, lead-time analysis & reduction etc.
  • Knowledge of or experience using Shell’s inventory work processes and systems
  • Experience in describing general principles and key activities of receiving, checking, transporting, packaging, storing and preserving goods
  • Understanding of MMR and BoM best practice
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong SAP skills in Materials Management and Plant Maintenance modules
  • Excellent knowledge and application skills with manipulating of data and use of databases such as Excel, Access and SQL
  • Specific discipline knowledge (e.g. mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, rotating and static equipment or in well engineering) will be highly valued
