The Business
FEDC is an established family-owned business experiencing strong growth. FEDC operates across the forestry, civil, agriculture and vegetation management sectors, and has operations throughout NSW.
The Role
FEDC is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to drive productivity in its hardwood plantation harvesting and chipping operations.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you would be responsible for:
- day-to-day management of a plantation harvesting and infield chipping operation, involving around 10 staff including harvester, skidder and chipper operators;
- maintaining productivity levels to meet our customer's requirements;
- ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety;
- liaising with the haulage contractor; and
- co-ordinating the servicing and maintenance of plant and equipment with our workshop.
The successful applicant will have:
- previous experience working as a senior supervisor or operations manager in a forestry operation preferably in hardwood plantations;
- excellent personnel management skills;
- a demonstrated ability to complete work on time and on budget;
- strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements;
- a willingness and availability to work flexible hours, including being on call after hours;
- a high degree of independence and autonomy; and
- demonstrated history of consistent and reliable employment.
Although not required, the following experience and qualifications would be looked upon favourably:
- previous experience with hardwood plantations in the Northern Rivers;
- experience with biomass processing, particularly infield chipping;
- experience operating forestry plant such as a harvester, skidder, chipper and/or excavator;
- experience in bulk haulage;
- mechanical aptitude; and
- an unrestricted HC or MC licence.
This role is based out of FEDC's Casino office, with local travel required. Competitive remuneration and a fully maintained vehicle will be offered to the right candidate.
