Our Cane Supply and Transport team is vital to our sugar operations. This team manages our train network and assets throughout the Herbert, Burdekin, Proserpine and Plane Creek regions. Our fleet of 80 locomotives haul 18,000 cane bins over 1,600km of track (enough to stretch from Cairns to Brisbane) to transport sugarcane from farms to our eight mills in North Queensland.
Job Vacancy
We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a Locomotive Driver's Assistant on a fixed term contract to join our Plane Creek Mill Team.
The Successful Applicant
The main responsibility of the role is to assist the loco driver to ensure the safe and reliable transport of cane across the region.
The successful applicant will have the skills to:
- Work under supervision.
- Exercise decision making/responsibility within their level of skill and training.
- Demonstrate awareness of general quality control standards, in particular responsibility for their own work and advise of quality control problems where identified.
- Assist with on-the-job training.
- Service and adjust install equipment according to their level of skill and training, and advise of any additional maintenance required.
- Demonstrate general housekeeping skills.
- Demonstrate ability to use common language skills to engage in communication and to read and understand written and oral instructions plus prepare records that convey information accurately and concisely.
