The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is Australia’s national agency responsible for maritime safety, protection of the marine environment, and maritime aviation search and rescue.  We are a statutory authority established under the Australian Maritime Safety Authority Act 1990 (AMSA Act).

At AMSA we ensure safe vessel operations, combat marine pollution and rescue people in distress. We work closely with other Australian and international government agencies and related industries, providing valuable advice and expertise to ensure we, and others deliver on our mission.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Senior Advisor, Maritime Communications you will be a specialist and trusted advisor on maritime communications. You will strategically support the Standards division in the development of maritime communication solutions and associated policies and procedures.

The role will see you provide advice on maritime communications and for Search and Rescue communications in both the maritime and aeronautical domains. You will apply your technical expertise and knowledge in association with AMSA’s role as a statutory authority and international obligations.

You will be responsible for producing written briefs in regards to maritime communications for delegates attending national and international forums and from time to time, you may have the opportunity to represent AMSA at these forums as required.

Reporting to the Principle Advisor Aviation and Operational Implementation, you will be part of a collaborative, supportive and customer focused team of professionals who value their role in delivering on AMSA’s vision.

 

ABOUT THE PERSON

To be successful in this position, you will have solid foundations working at a senior capacity in a communications environment.

Your technical knowledge and understanding of radio communications and radio navigation systems will be key to your success. You will have a willingness and eagerness to learn and collaborate to ensure you are delivering high quality solutions.

You will be a trusted advisor, and a natural promoter and influencer, with an ability to engage and network with a variety of stakeholders. You will possess strong presentation with demonstrated experience presenting and communication information in both written and verbal formats.
