THE CLIENT:

Our client is a Mining and Civil Contractor seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to be based at their Welshpool warehouse. With over 40 years industry experience, they specialise in the provision of civil engineering, earth-moving, mining and contracting services, in the following disciplines:
  • Mining Contracting Services and Heavy Mining Equipment Rental
  • Environmental Rehabilitation Toxic, Chemical, Industrial and Post Mining
  • Production of Hard Rock Quarry Raw Materials
  • Bulk Materials Transport and Heavy Vehicle Logistical Service
THE ROLE: 
  • Supervise metro workshop and remote site field service personnel to undertake repairs and scheduled maintenance on a day to day basis of the company’s heavy earth-moving, truck, light equipment and motor vehicle fleet.
  • To ensure and monitor that all repairs undertaken at both the job site and in the metro workshop are properly documented as per QHSE system.
  • Monitor machine daily fault sheets from all sites.
  • To ensure that all workshop and field service personnel comply with company’s scheduled oil sampling system (SOS). In addition to monitor all SOS results, be responsible to identify and issuing corrective action procedures as required to prevent further damage or unnecessary failure to major equipment components.
  • To ensure that all specialised equipment / tooling is calibrated in accordance with the company’s Quality System, plus maintain calibration records.
  • To ensure adequate manning levels are in place in both the field and workshop to maintain the company equipment fleet.
  • To liaise and organise with external subcontracted repairers to undertake major and minor repairs to the company’s mobile equipment fleet.
  • Oversee the upkeep and correct operation of the company’s electronic maintenance records (Maintenance Database).
  • Required to assist in providing budgetary information specific to current, forecasted and scheduled maintenance operations.
  • Be required to assist in project tender review as and when required. This may include travelling to remote sites to assist with pre-contract requirements.
THE CANDIDATE:
  • Proven ability to manage, supervise and provide leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience and skills in liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution with personnel at all levels.
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft desktop software, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • High level problem solving skills and research/analytical ability including the ability to obtain and interpret information and make specific recommendations.
  • Experience in workshop management in similar industry desirable.
  • Desirable-Plant Mechanic Trade background.
