About the role
Our Production Department is looking for a Line Setup Operator on afternoon shift (3pm to 11pm). Reporting to the Line Setup Supervisor this position is responsible for the set-up of filling and packaging lines as per the production schedule. You will perform machine set up, fault finding, cleaning and equipment reassembly to ensure quick change-overs, reduction in variances and minimising equipment damage. This role is key in supporting the weekly production schedule and liaises with other Line Setup Operators, Production Supervisors, Washroom Operators, Packaging Operators, Maintenance and Compliance staff.
Duties
- Set up, calibration, operation and dismantling of filling and packaging equipment, such as multi head liquid fillers, tube fillers, labellers, auto cartonners, shrink wrappers, pumps, etc. as per weekly production plan
- Completing batch setup documentation
- First line maintenance attending to minor breakdowns and adjustments
- Liaising with Production, Manufacturing and Setup supervisors and Maintenance, Washroom and Packaging operators
- Assist with inventory control of machine consumables
- Assist in the investigation of equipment breakdown and prepare deviation reports as required
- Identifying and implementing proactive measures to prevent equipment failure
- Identifying process improvements and working independently or within a focus group to realise the improvements
- Adhering to and developing Standard Operating Procedures relevant to machine set up, operation and cleaning
- Safety first at all times and assisting in rotational monthly safety audits
Skills & Experience
- Completion of TEE Level schooling or equivalent
- Relevant mechanical trade qualification
- Good mechanical and pneumatic aptitude
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a product manufacturing GMP environment, ideally in pharmaceutical / food / chemical industries
- Experience in setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of production equipment
- Good mechanical aptitude, trouble-shooting and problem solving skills
- Attention to detail and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Ability to communicate well and work as part of a cross-functional team
- Results orientated
- Exposure to setup time reduction methodologies
