About the role

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Winery Operations, the Winery Manager will have complete responsibility for the efficient and effective performance of all operational activities at the Berri Estates Winery. This ‘hands on’ role will offer you the opportunity to have great influence over exciting capital work projects, as well as a focus on implementing best practice continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing all site production planning, vintage intake planning, budgeting, compliance and expense management
  • Managing site planning and development and all site capital works
  • Monitoring the status of all product blends produced on site and with the Winemaking teams, ensuring all bulk wine, packaging and bottling requirements are met
  • Managing bulk wine inventory, including month end and end of Vintage stock takes
  • Engendering an efficient, effective and best practice/continuous improvement approach to all winery production activities
  • Involvement in the maintenance of the group’s production management systems including the bulk wine and spirit system, and the JDE production system
  • Ensuring effective and productive site industrial and employee relations, and the ongoing development of people

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Science, Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in a significant winery or related operation is essential
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead, inspire, engage, guide and motivate employees
  • Skills as an effective change manager with a continuous improvement mentality
  • Ability to use initiative, be solution focused and utilise strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong negotiation skills with confidence in making important business decisions

Although not essential, a winemaking background will be highly regarded.
