The Role
Reporting to the President - Global Manufacturing (GM) you will provide company-wide strategic leadership and direction in process safety, occupational health, safety, & environment with a strong focus on HSEC risk and improving safety culture.

Whilst leading the global HSEC network of circa 100 safety professionals, this role requires being able to influence the various leadership teams at IPL in guiding the development of HSEC strategy and governance - truly pushing our safety culture to passionate continual improvement. Working closely and effectively with your five direct reports you will be responsible to lead, manage and continuously improve the HSEC performance across all business units to ensure zero injuries to anyone. This will include championing and overseeing the successful implementation of the IPL HSEC and Process Safety Management System and ensuring compliance to regulatory legislation. You will also enjoy championing the facilitation of continuous improvement across the HSEC function.


About You
You are a passionate safety leader who will help us achieve zero injuries to anyone.
Your well-developed leadership skills and proven track record of success in a similar leadership role across multi-sites, business units and geographic locations combined with your proven strategic influencing ability at Board and Executive team level will ensure your success in this role.
Highly regarded for your proven track record in stakeholder engagement, you enjoy influencing and leading change management processes across a geographic dispersed, matrix organisation.
You will also have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Safety Psychology, Law and/or Engineering,
  • Extensive global experience in chemical manufacturing environment or explosives operations, including leadership and/or safety roles
  • Experience in culture change, business excellence systems and process safety management
  • Extensive experience in leading and managing change in complex global high hazard organizations with an indepth knowledge of OSHA PMS (US) and MHF requirements (Australia)
  • Significant safety management system and behavioural safety experience
  • Exposure to PSM system design and maintenance
  • Expertise in Audit and corrective action management
