About the position
With a key focus on people and operations, this role will be report directly to the General Manager of one of our largest retail partnerships across NSW and VIC with planned growth into other regions within Australia in the near future.
Our customer, one of Australia’s leading grocery retailers is undergoing major developments and Linfox are proud to be a valued partner in assisting them to drive change and innovation. In order to support them through their improvement initiatives and expected growth, we have created a brand new role to oversee our 3PL Transport Operations in Victoria and New South Wales.
This transport network has over 500 staff including drivers and operational staff and you will work closely with the Site Managers and State Managers to ensure we are making continuous improvements, investing in our staff and everyone has a role in achieving our overall objectives. The key to this will be to ensure a consistent and collaborative front across all of the operations as we work effectively to deliver incredible service in a cost effective and efficient manner.
You will build trustworthy relationships with our customers and stakeholders as you work with them to grow their operation and adapt to the evolving and competitive demands of the grocery supply chain in Australia. You will apply your knowledge of 3PL Transport Operations and provide expert advice to deliver on projects and implementations whilst supporting the greater operations team to embrace these changes with a positive mindset.
In addition to the above, you will be responsible for:
- Taking personal accountability for the safety and compliance of our people and operations
- Developing robust relationships with our customers to support their needs in line with the needs of our day to day operations
- Managing all aspects of the transport operation and effective management of human and capital resources
- Effective management of industrial relations and development of relationships with all key stakeholders
- Continual analysis of current practices for the development of ongoing operational efficiencies and productivity across a vast and intricate network
- Project management on new implementations and projects including current plans to implement new software and innovation in our planning team
- Creating a work environment which provides for enthusiasm and creativity within a disciplined approach to achieve desired outcomes
About you
You will be:
- An engaging and collaborative leader with an ability to inspire people to embrace change
- A proven senior manager in a large scale transport network within a major 3PL highly regarded
- Proactive in identifying opportunities to strengthen processes and be able to implement these across a vast network
- Confident in handling complex negotiations with internal and external stakeholders such as managing Industrial disputes
- Experienced in and having a strong understanding of how high volume, multidrop, multisite transport networks operate
- Able to demonstrate a high level of commercial and business acumen
- Knowledgeable in lean and continuous improvement methodology with an ability to use this knowledge to drive improvements
