Procurement Manager

GMCT is establishing a new centralised procurement function in order to achieve greater cost savings, increased governance and increase staff productivity for those staff currently engaged in procurement.

The Procurement Manager objectives are to achieve cost savings on all purchases of goods and services, ensure the quality of the goods and services is met and that the goods and services are delivered on time. These objectives are ot be achieved within GMCT’s procurement policy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Achieve cost savings or better terms on all transactions & demonstrate that GMCT has obtained the best possible price
  • Ensure risk is minimised (financial, legal, ohs & environmental)
  • Comply with the procurement policy and process
  • Offer improvements to the procurement process
  • Conduct supplier evaluation
  • Interview the vendors
  • Visit supplier plants and distribution centres
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and meetings
  • Rolling analysis of price proposals and the financial reports of the company
  • Negotiation of various contracts
  • Collaboration with suppliers for agreeing upon policies
  • Collaboration with staff members for meeting the standards
  • monitoring and evaluation of rolling contracts
  • Maintaining and reviewing records of bought items
  • Communicate to all staff the procurement processes

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree or TAFE qualification.
  • 10+ year’s practical construction industry experience within a related role.
  • Strong (demonstrated) Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint experience
  • Experience with ERP systems
