POSITION DESCRIPTION – PURCHASING OFFICER
Longwall Haul (Aust.) Pty Ltd is an underground coal contractor operating throughout the New South Wales coalfields. Our hiring fleet includes a range of unique underground plant and equipment. We maintain a high level of quality as a result of our accreditation with the National Association of Testing Authorities with AS/NZS ISO/IEC 17020:2013. We maintain a high level of safety through our compliance with AS/NZS 4801:2001.
Due to continuous growth, a position for a Purchasing Officer has become available within the company that entails the following duties (but not limited to):
- Work closely with the management team to develop strategies for business improvement
- Sourcing and ordering inventory
- Management of stock levels
- Goods inward, stock recording & receipting
- Checking and releasing purchase orders
- Vendor process review
- Preparing costings, quotes and processing orders
- Maintaining good relationships with all suppliers and customers
- Minimising shipping costs & delivery times
- Liaising with freight forwarders
- Alternate sourcing of parts as required
- After hours parts call out when required
To be considered for this role, the following skills and attributes are essential:
- Procurement in inventory management/purchasing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- To work unsupervised and the ability to work to deadlines
- A willingness and ability to learn and adapt
- MS Office skills and a working knowledge of business ERP systems.
- Ability to work independently and be resourceful to solve problems
- A commitment to customer service
- A strong commitment to WH&S policies and procedures
Desirable but not essential:
- Tertiary qualification
- Parts Interpretation / Ability to Interpret Drawings
- Exposure to Mechanical OEM equipment or related industries
- Negotiating, closing & persuasion abilities
