About you
As Chief Controller (Operational Readiness), you need to be a seasoned people-leader with a substantial rail background and hands-on experience managing all activities in a Network Control Centre. You have experience in incident management, co-ordination and implementation of recovery plans to 'normalise' business operations. You are a responsible mentor and thrive at the head of a diverse, high-performing team. You are able to support the development your team members and foster a collaborative team-work environment.

You are inspired to learn and grow and you’re not afraid to join an innovative greenfield environment where there will be lots of work to do developing plans, manuals and procedures in the lead-up to going Operational in Q2 of 2019.

About the opportunity
Joining the Operational Readiness team as Chief Controller, you will help build the foundations of a successful future for Australia's transport infrastructure by assisting the Operational Control Centre (OCC) in the delivery of key operational readiness milestones. Reporting to the Operations Control Centre Manager, as Chief Controller you will be responsible for:
  • Developing plans, manuals and procedures relating to customer service, train operations, incident and emergency management and service recovery
  • Operating Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) equipment
  • Supporting the delivery of the Train Control facility, including testing equipment performance
  • Participating in the recruitment and on-boarding campaigns for the OCC from day one operations, including leading and mentoring new OCC team members into the rail safety environment.
You will have a tertiary qualification in one of the following (or substantial professional experience deemed equivalent):
  • Rail Operations Management (train movements),
  • Transport and Logistics
  • Customer Service
  • Safety Management
  • Incident Management

Aside from competitive remuneration, this role offers the chance to be at the forefront of a brand new industry in Australia whilst developing a skillset already in global demand. During the Operational Readiness phase you will be working standard office hours, however once operational you will be working shifts in the 24/7 Operations Centre at Rouse Hill.

Successful applicants will initially be offered a maximum-term contract until February 2020, and will be considered for potential permanent opportunities within MTS.
