Bindaree Food Group (BFG) is part of an integrated, branded, supply chain meat business which delivers global meat solutions through a relentless focus on achieving complete alignment with customers and the delivery of high quality products – in-full and on-time!!

We will soon be opening a new food processing facility dedicated to the production of a range of value added meat / protein based products for the retail supermarket industry.  The newly upgraded facility is located in Burleigh Heads, just 11klm south of Surfers Paradise and 11klm north of the Gold Coast Airport, and is ideally positioned to service all areas of the Gold Coast and its surrounds with easy access to the M1 Pacific Highway, the Port of Brisbane, located 85klm North, as well as export markets of Southeast Asia and beyond.

As a result of significant growth in this key area of our business an exciting opportunity has been created for an organised and customer focused Warehouse Manager to join the team.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, in this pivotal leadership role you will be responsible for providing support and leadership of all aspects of the business operations of the Warehousing function.  This includes full accountability for Safety, Quality and Operational outcomes e.g. from the day-to-day operation, to the allocation of labour and equipment through to ensuring warehouse practices maximise profitability.  You will be responsible for creating action plans to address cost control issues and will be required to direct, oversee, and evaluates the training of Team Members in order to reduce and control turnover, promote more efficient operations and to provide better control over labour costs. Developing and maintaining communication with the other departments across the business is key to your success in this role. 

More specifically your duties will include:

  • Providing day-to-day leadership and operational execution for warehouse operations;
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring the warehouse Safety Management Systems;
  • Reviewing performances of results compared to planned activity and developing corrective actions for variances;
  • Maximising customer service by ensuring accuracy of inventory and development of good customer relations;
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring KPIs to measure processes and productivity;
  • Ensuring budget targets are met or exceeded, with accountability to the P&L;
  • Identifying business opportunities and driving cost reduction projects; and
  • Participate in industrial relation matters relevant to the site where required.

This role will suit an experienced Warehouse Manager, preferably in cold storage, with the ability to demonstrate solid skills and experience in providing effective team leadership in order to consistently achieve targets. The successful candidate will bring the following skills and attributes to the role:

  • Hands on experience with warehouse, despatch and transport management, in a multi-product, competitive manufacturing environment;
  • A team player who can communicate and work closely with sales and production staff to balance the conflicting demands of cost of inventory and stock outs;
  • Demonstrated experience to identify current opportunities to improve current Warehousing and Distribution procedures and structure;
  • Knowledge of 5S and Lean Principles; and
  • Be dependable and reliable, having the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes; including nights, weekends and holidays as well as having flexibility with store assignments.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to give direction, while participating in a team environment.
  • Be able to manage department staff to include: training and development, delivering on-time performance appraisals and providing feedback. 
  • Possess a proven leadership ability to build, motivate and maintain staff, while possessing a working knowledge of employee performance and operational reporting requirements. 
  • Have a strong focus on detail, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ensure all production requirements including DIFOTQ (Delivery In Full, On Time & Quality) are achieved each day.
  • Have the ability to deal with equipment breakdowns, unplanned production stoppages etc. which may arise by applying logical root cause analysis practices to identify and provide practical solutions which can be delivered quickly and effectively to minimise downtime and overtime costs.
  • Must also ensure that all company regulations and standards for all quality and health and safety issues in order to maintain a safe and clean work environment for employees whilst ensuring compliance with all Workplace Health & Safety requirements, other governmental regulations and company standards.
  • Have strong organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

You will be a committed team player with a proven focus on safety, customer service and achieving results. A qualification in Logistics Management and experience with IT Systems/ Promptu / Excel would be highly regarded. Current forklift license and First Aid an advantage but not essential.
