Your role
Maritime has established a Combat Systems Engineering Group (CSEG) whose primary responsibility is the achievement of common Combat System solutions, including support system solutions. Within CSEG a team of logistics engineers provide services for undertaking logistics engineering and obsolescence analysis activities in support of acquisition projects and sustainment tasks within Maritime and the other Saab Australia business areas. This role is responsible for leading the CSEG’s Logistic Engineering team.

Key responsibilities of the Logistics Engineering Team Lead role will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Liaising with Project Managers to define and plan project needs for Logistics Engineering effort
  • Allocating Logistics Engineering resources and manage impact of changes to project schedules on the allocated Logistics Engineering effort.
  • Being responsible for the development of performance goals and training needs for allocated staff and monitoring their achievement.
  • Undertaking logistics engineering for acquisition and sustainment projects, as follows:
    • Reliability, maintainability and availability analysis;
    • Failure mode, effects and criticality analysis;
    • Level of repair analysis;
    • Maintenance task analysis;
    • Reliability centred maintenance analysis;
    • Spares analysis; and
    • PHS&T analysis.
  • Liaising with the OEMs to identify, analyse and recommend corrective actions for equipment obsolescence problems, including development of costed corrective actions plans.
  • Undertaking life cycle cost analysis for acquisition and sustainment projects.
  • Reviewing supplier and OEM generated ILS plans, logistic support data, technical manuals and other ILS documentation as required.


Your skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Logistics Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent on the job experience.
  • Experience in Defence industry and its logistics practices and standards.
  • Sound experience in logistics and reliability and maintainability (R&M) engineering.
  • COTS based logistics experience.
  • Experience in the application of relevant military and commercial logistics standards.
  • Experience in LSA and R&M analysis tools.
  • Experience in preparing ILS inputs to tenders.
  • Sound understanding of the development and the inter-relation between the various ILS elements.
  • Understanding of System Engineering principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to confidently and assertively lead a team of ILS professionals
