A unique opportunity has arisen for a Captain of a Private 45-meter Super Yacht based in Melbourne & Sydney.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Captain or experienced Chief Officer who is ready to make the step up to the Captain position.

It is essential that you know the Eastern Sea board and are extremely familiar with the Barrier Reef Areas.

We are seeking a long-term commitment and a candidate who has a stable work history.

As Captain, you are responsible for the entire operations of a 45-meter steel hull super yacht.

You will be in charge of a team of 4+ staff and act as the CEO of this large and prestige vessel, ensuring that all operations, personnel and a large budget are well managed with premium efficiency. You will be responsible for the supervision of the crew and all day to day operations. You will reside on board the vessel with 4 other crew.

This is a private yacht and it is not used at any time for charter.

You will keep financial records, make and meet budgets, plan itineraries and make reservations and have a list of contacts around the globe for parts and services that may be needed to maintain the yacht.

You will work very closely with the owner and develop a sound understanding of the owner and family requirements.

Requirements:

The minimum qualifications for the position would include:

* 10 years’ experience as a Captain on an Australian vessel ideally 45 meters plus

* Current license for a vessel of this size and a Captains Ticket for a 500-ton vessel

* A proven record of navigation and particularly experience within the Great Barrier Reef areas

* Management Skills

* Public Relations skills

* Exceptional communication and customer service skills

* Budgeting and accounting ability

* Emergency management experience

* Engineering knowledge

* Environmental regulations knowledge

* Insurance considerations

* Computer literacy

It is also essential that you are currently employed in a similar position and therefore have very current experience.

* Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.

* A current police check will be required.

* Driver’s license is essential
