We are partnering with a leading international airline based in Mascot to recruit a Trades Assistant to perform sheet metal repairs on galley carts and Unit Load Devices (ULDs) that are used to transport freight such as pallets and containers.

Your new role

This is a casual vacancy (38 hours per week) on day shift. The hours of work are 7am-3.30pm with occasional overtime. The casual pay rate is $28.50ph (inclusive of casual loading)

Free all day onsite parking is available, or the workshop is close to Mascot train station on the T8 Airport Line.


Duties

We are searching for an employee who displays a commitment to be responsible for ensuring operational requirements are met to site standards of efficiency, quality and safety. This opportunity will provide you the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and resources.

Duties will include (but not be limited to) the use of pneumatic drills, sheet metal presses, grinders, drill presses, drop saws and rivet presses. Previous experience using power tools in a manufacturing environment with strong mechanical and / or electrical experience is an essential requirement of this role.

This role would also suit a person who has operated drill presses or other industrial presses such as a brake press. Would also suit a person with a background using the tools used in air-conditioning assembly environment or similar.

Preference will be given to applicants with sheet metal experience in the aviation industry.


Desirable requirements

The following qualifications would be highly regarded but are not essential:

• LF forklift licence

• EWP ticket

• Working at heights

It is a legal requirement that all applicants must also be able to provide original copies of their work rights in Australia such as a valid passport or birth certificate etc at interview stage.


All applicants must complete a pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol screening), a police check and gain a red Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) before commencement - at your own cost.
