In this role

You will oversee all automation and engineering activities in the Packaging facility, and develop, lead and manage a team of multi-disciplinary fitters, electricians and automation engineers in the operational support of production machinery. Provide guidance to the reliability team, in a manner that will ensure the team consistently achieve the targeted levels of performance, in the most cost-effective manner. Lead and organise the preventative programme with the use of Mainpac.

To continuously challenge, innovate and improve the department performance through the implementation of a Lean culture and operational philosophy.

Key Accountabilties

• Ensure maintenance processes and outcomes support the achievement of customer service targets. Make and implement recommendations where discrepancies are identified.
• To ensure that all departmental personnel are competently trained and have an effective understanding of our business, its processes, objectives, standards,  measures and the impact their personal performance has on these measures.
• Contribute to the achievement of overall manufacturing and company objectives
• Optimise machine change-over-times and reliability
• Ensure the provision of low cost manufacture, high quality standard products, at the optimum value cost (low cost, quality output) are maintained at all times
• Optimise performance of lines by ensuring adequate personnel and skills balance through effective scheduling and rostering of maintenance resources
• Ensure adequate supply of engineering parts and consumables required for production.
• Drive the implementation and maintenance of machine care and provide manufacturing team members with adequate resources, skills and training to carry out the basic functions of machine care
• Facilitate the planning of preventative maintenance tasks in conjunction with the Reliability Planner and Manufacturing Team Leaders
• Ensure compliance to Quality, Environmental, Good Manufacturing (GMP), and HACCP practices
• Generate corrective actions as per procedures
• Assist the closing out of corrective actions from audits (HACCP, Environment, Quality, GMP and other)
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping by promoting a “clean as you go” philosophy
• Lead the reliability team in progressing the lean philosophy ensuring continuous improvements across all areas of business processes are achieved.
• Liaise with service contractors and suppliers on equipment performance and improvement

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Experience in a manufacturing environment and relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering
• 7-10 years’ experience in an appropriate leadership role
• Appropriate management training/experience
• Strong problem solving skills and a result driven approach
• Understanding of Quality Management Systems Principles (inc. ISO 9000, ISO 14000, HACCP)
• Strong communication/Presentation skills
• Experience in Project Management

Qualifications

Degree – Qualified in Engineering
