About the role:
We are currently seeking an Operations Manager – NSW, to provide leadership across all facets of the NSW operations activities on a full-time basis. The role is pivotal to the success of the NSW business and key responsibilities include leading and developing. This role will be a management role reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
This role will be accountable for leading and developing our Warehouse operations located in Smeaton Grange, our Dismantling facilities in Smithfield and both our Warehouse and Dismantling facilities in Queanbeyan. You will be required to ensure all operations are running safely, efficiently and customer focused, within all sites, whilst providing support to the Supervisors and Managers leading each site.
Key accountabilities:
Leadership
- Develop, coach, train and mentor staff to provide ongoing safe and customer focused continuity of performance at a sustained high output level
- Ensure the team maintains productive working relationships with other functions especially sales and supply chain
- Review and improve current processes and practices to apply best practice to all areas
Operational Effectiveness
- Responsible for a cost-effective efficient operation focussed on customer satisfaction
- Safely and maintain dismantling capacity in line with strategy and budget
- Warehouse/distribution costs to be managed in line with strategy and budget
Operational Improvement
- Take a holistic approach to ensuring state operations are optimised, including initiating and supporting any improvements of process
- Ensure a KPI-driven culture is reinforced through the introduction of appropriate production, warehousing and distribution, safety, cultural and customer service metrics
Systems
- Provide input to establishing the KPI’s, systems and data management capabilities
- Lead a culture of continuous improvement by initiating and driving optimisation activity
The Successful Candidate
- Tertiary qualification in engineering, supply chain, logistics or equivalent experience is desirable
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in complex production and distribution driven environments
- A minimum of 5 years management experience
- Strong understanding of production and distribution models and logistics best practices
- Expert level knowledge of forecasting, demand and inventory management systems
- Understanding of product cost and margin principles
- Extensive customer service experience
