In support of the High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT) Project, a new opportunity has become available for a Material Interface to join our project team in Newport. Our newly built production facility will be involved with assembling the 65 trains that will be delivered as part of the HCMT project.

Reporting to the General Manager - Project Delivery, the Material interface will be responsible for reporting production material availability and working closely with our joint-venture partner CRRC and their supply chain personnel to ensure the timely delivery of materials to the production line in order to meet the requirements of the HCMT project manufacturing schedule. Critical to this role will be timely communication with production and CRRC supply chain, ensuring accurate reporting on material availability and shortages.  

The High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT) Project is a Victorian Government initiative and a $2.3 billion investment in Victoria’s rolling stock industry.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning/design/production within a manufacturing environment will be well regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in rail or similar heavy engineering / manufacturing industry.
  • International customs, trade and transportation knowledge would be desirable. 
  • Ability to monitor material shortages and communicate priorities between key stakeholders.
  • Understanding of material return and replacement process with inventory control for non-conformances and missing materials.
  • Experience working with customers to optimise service delivery and proven relationship building skills.
  • Strong negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills coupled with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to identify opportunities, improvements and solutions that will enable you to plan and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Highly effective communication style teamed with strong inter-personal and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership that strives towards the commitment to Zero Harm.
