This well-known and highly regarded organisation is currently going through an exciting period of innovation and transformation. As part of this transformation they have a newly created role in their procurement team for a Senior Category Manager to look after their Road, Rail and Logistics portfolio. This is a key role and as such it requires someone who has proven experience of delivering highly complex, multi-stakeholder procurement solutions within the aforementioned categories.
Key Objectives
- Apply best practice category management and source to contract processes (e.g. fact base analysis, strategy, RFx, negotiations, award and implementation).
- Develop and implement sound category and sourcing strategies that will deliver safety, cost and quality optimisation.
- Achieve procurement value delivery targets and support the business to achieving business wide value delivery targets.
Duties
- Run effective source to contract, category strategies and supplier relationship management to drive value creation and realisation.
- Ensure stakeholder alignment with category and sourcing strategies.
- Run quality and timely negotiations focused on safety, quality, productivity and innovation.
- Implement effective portfolio management and customer engagement that enable pro-active management of procurement initiatives.
- Participate in idea generation workshops and assist with the implementation of selected ideas that drive superior business performance through improved productivity.
Qualifications / Experience
- Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business / Management or equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years in a category role within medium to large organisations
- Proven experience in customer and supplier relationship management
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to think outside the box
- Experience in managing complex categories
- Strong negotiator with experience as a negotiation lead for complex business requirements (e.g. contracts over A$10m, complex scopes of work, diverse range of stakeholders)
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing to all levels of the organisation.
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to develop clear business cases (including financials) for category and contracts strategies implementation
- Experience in analysing and measuring benefits from category projects.
- Rail and Road logistics and supply chain industry experience.
- Business transformation experience.
- SAP experience.
