We are currently recruiting for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team based at our Port Stephens Workshop. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining our fleet of waste vehicles.
As the successful applicant you will have a minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or equivalent and have sound working knowledge of heavy vehicle and mechanical repairs. You will be a team player with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Your primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Carry out maintenance and servicing on vehicles and plants
- Complete documentation on inspections
- Decipher workshop manuals and technical bulletins
- Perform fault finding and diagnostic tests of engine, transmission and driveline faults
- Participate in productivity improvements within the business
- Coordinate repairs with external contractors and communicate with parts suppliers
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Heavy Vehicle Road Transport Mechanic or equivalent
- Experience in correcting vehicle deficiencies regarding power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering and hydraulics
- Working knowledge of heavy and mechanical repairs
- Working knowledge of auto-electrical repairs
- Experience in hydraulics systems
- Experience working on Waste Vehicles will be highly regarded
- Current Heavy Vehicle driver’s licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong internal customer service attitude
