With head office located in the greater West of Sydney conveniently nestled near the M4 and M7 freeways, UFP Australia has multiple site in NSW, VIC, and QLD.

General Summary

The Australian Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of timber, plywood and other products for our plants and guiding strategic initiatives to expand our raw material footprint to compliment the division’s continued growth. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with domestic and international vendors and operations at senior levels and below.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads by example.
  • Oversees, provides leadership and clear objectives to plants on issues of procurement of raw materials, relationship with vendors, and logistics.
  • Sets standards of performance and specific actions to ensure procurement strategies are consistent with Company’s goals and objectives.
  • Works with the plants to help determine imported raw material needs.
  • Works with vendors to help uncover opportunities for UFP Australia.
  • Works with the logistics teams internationally, internal and external to define strategies and performance objectives.
  • Represents UFP Australia at industry and vendor events, trade shows, and other events as needed.
  • Assists plants with inventory budgets, and predicts trends and market direction.
  • Ensures procurement operates in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations and all Company policies and procedures.
  • Develops and/or approves specific purchasing and logistics and compliance policies and procedures as required.
  • Prepares reports and performs other duties as required.
  • Visits vendors on a regular and consistent basis to find opportunities and build relationships.

Job Specifications

Knowledge

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, operations, sales or management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in negotiation, and minimum 5 years of experience in public speaking.
  • Working knowledge in a variety of purchasing and product concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge in financial and accounting concepts and principals.
  • Preferred experience and knowledge on UFP Australia’s organization, culture, and product lines.
