Pumps United are looking for a National Asset & Procurement Manager. The role has dual accountability and responsivity for our policies, procedure and operating standards covering our national procurement, as well as our company assets.

As National Asset Manager the role is accountable for:

  • Clearly outlining all relevant standards for our products and fleet including manuals, specs etc (includes brand, spec & model, maintenance standards and intervals, branding & appearance)
  • Streamlining and standardising our fleet
  • Systematically monitor and manage asset life cycles
  • Creating and maintaining a reporting system for financial performance of assets, utilisation etc
  • Disposal of assets

Responsible for:

  • Assisting in strategic procurement of assets and spare parts as well as negotiations with suppliers
  • Assist in ensuring training packages for trades personal is aligned with fleet and fit for purpose
  • Reporting on critical metrics such as cost of ownership, utilisation, standards etc
  • Ensuring Branches are complying with the standards
  • Continuous improvement of fleet and standards
  • Assist in holding suppliers accountable

As National Procurement Manager the role is accountable for:

  • Implementing procurement strategies to maintain security of supply
  • Set policy and guidelines for delivering commercial and cost effective procuring processes for the business
  • Strategic selection of vendors
  • Continuous improvement on procurement processes

Responsible for:

  • Ensuring purchasing by branches is aligned with the policies & strategic objectives of the procurement processes
  • Ensuring purchasing of fleet, equipment, consumables is standardised i.e. the branch based purchasing officer orders standard items where possible from pre-selected vendors at pre-selected price points
  • Perform all procurement and contracting activities for asset purchases including pre-qualification, tender management, negotiation and preparation of contracts
  • Develop key relationships with internal and external business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to continuously improve business performance
  • Identify other areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results
  • Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies and identify potential cost down and improvement opportunities
  • Implement change and develop new processes to better procure goods and services
  • Provide periodic reporting for management on purchasing, controls and processes
  • Analyse market and delivery trends so as to develop procurement technologies and processes that support those trends

About the candidate

  • Relevant technical and managerial experience of at least 3 to 5 years
  • Current knowledge of strategic Asset Management practices, relevant legislation, and current/emerging trends
  • Strong mechanical alignment with prior pump experience preferred
  • Well developed leadership and motivational skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to think strategically and manage functionally
  • Ability to drive performance, engagement and commitment of operational teams to drive and implement best practice strategies
  • Adept at problem solving and finding innovative ways to create value
  • Driven self-starter, focused on outcomes
  • Proven procurement experience in a  organisations with a national footprint
  • Strong focus on safety and quality
  • Must be able to travel for the role as required
  • Must focus on being a champion of the business as they represent the Pumps United vision, values and culture with all staff at every level in every location
