Job Summary

Swissport  is seeking a high level leader for the position of Manager Regional Airports supporting a portfolio of regional airports across Australia and New Zealand. The core purpose of the Manager Regional Airports is to lead Swissport 's airport leaders and business activities within the portfolio.  This involves maximising performance across the areas of safety, efficiency and reliability, and exceeding the service delivery expectations of Swissport 's clients (airlines) and their customers. By extension this includes analysing/diagnosing performance issues and then developing and implementing business improvement initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Create a positive safety culture that includes strong safety reporting / Just Culture and aims for being a generative safety culture;
  • Lead optimal operational efficiency through ensuring effective planning and management of manpower (through rosters, training, leave, etc.) as well as other key cost areas such as staff uniforms;
  • Lead the team toward exceeding all clients' customer service expectations in the various disciplines including check-in, boarding, and baggage services;
  • Maintain an exceptional personal standard of service toward all clients;
  • Manage complex and contentious network issues and competing stakeholder interests;
  • Ensure that the team have the tools and equipment to effectively carry out their roles and come up with solutions including creating justifications for procuring additional tools / equipment where required;
  • Communicate and ensure effective communication of operational and business related information with the team;
  • Lead a culture that values equality, fairness, and transparency, and zero tolerance for bullying, discrimination and harassment;
  • Foster and develop the Swissport  'Can Do, Will Do' culture;          
  • Maintain effective communication / relationships with key client representatives with the aim of completely managing the client relationship for routine matters;
  • Ultimately, ensure delivery of project on-time, on budget and to set quality standards;
  • Establish effective project routines / disciplines to enable strong communication / collaboration / knowledge sharing;
  • Proactively monitor, manage and report on Airport performance, analysing Airport scorecards and identifying improvement strategies against industry, contractual, regulatory and internal measures, including improved performance;

Other –

  • Contributing to the development of airport strategies and business initiatives;
  • Undertake travel interstate and overseas for support and training requirements, occasionally at short notice;
  • Work variable hours (including early starts, late finishes and weekends) where required;
  • Other duties as required - the above listed duties do not limit what may reasonably be requested of you during the course of your employment.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing business improvements and change management strategies;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team to achieve positive business and operational outcomes;
  • Demonstrated achievement in managing, motivating and leading a large number of team members including several years' direct leadership experience with a team / workforce of 50 or more people;
  • Leadership experience in a fast-paced, service operation managing the needs of multiple clients with diverse requirements across geographically spread operations;
  • Knowledge of training practices including monitoring of training compliance for regulatory and skills-based training;
  • High level verbal reasoning, verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong problem solving skills including applying sound judgement and reasoning;
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, displaying initiative and motivation;
  • Strong administrative, planning, time management and organisational skills;
  • Strong ability to develop proficiency in using company IT systems;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Advanced proficiency in office tools including Microsoft office, Google applications, E-mail and Web/Teleconferencing.
  • Ability to develop -
  • Working knowledge of our clients ground handling, dangerous goods, security, and emergency response policies and procedures;
  • Proficiency in the company IT solutions suite and associated business tools.
