Reporting to the Port Manager and the Master onboard the vessel, this position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to perform deck and general purpose duties relating to towage on our vessels in the port.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Maintenance of vessels, equipment, firefighting and environmental protection equipment and relevant store based facilities;
  • The handling of stores and equipment;
  • Compliance with policies and procedures authorised by Svitzer and consistent with statutory obligations including quality assurance and ISM procedures;
  • Ensure day to day compliance with relevant environmental regulations;

Participate in operational improvement exercises as required and liaise with Svitzer management regarding the improvement of operational procedures.

We are looking for

To be considered for this role you will be required to demonstrate:

  • A minimum Integrated Rating Certificate of Competency or equivalent;
  • A current AMSA Medical and a valid MSIC (or the ability to obtain);
  • Experience in the maritime industry;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;

Excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills; Good problem solving skills.
