About the business

DSI Underground is Australia's largest manufacturer and supplier of specialist strata reinforcement and support products to the underground coal and metalliferous mining sectors.
Reporting to the Regional Chief Operating Officer, the Business Improvement Manager role has a strategic focus and is primarily responsible for managing an intensive LEAN transformation model across the business; designed to reengineer the interfaces between all business units. The role will not only champion the transformation but also lead the various program groups through rapid transformation initiatives.
About the role
Your key duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the ongoing continuous improvement of all relevant visual management boards
- Actively coach and mentor subordinates and peers in Lean Principles and problem solving activities on a regular and ongoing basis;
- Provide input into strategic business planning;
- Provide significant input and direction of new business improvement initiatives;
- Develop and manage LEAN transformation projects from concept to completion.

Skills and experience
To be considered for this opportunity you will possess:
- Qualifications in LEAN Manufacturing or related discipline
- Extensive business improvement experience within the Manufacturing space (a minimum 4years);
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with proven ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities;
- Demonstrated ability to understand technical concepts and converse at appropriate levels;
- Demonstrated ability to foster and develop strong relationships, with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management;
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to effectively assess, accept and take calculated risks in order to achieve success
Further, the following knowledge and experience is desirable (but not essential) and will be highly regarded:
- Tertiary qualifications in related discipline (for example, Business, Law or Finance)
- Experience in a large global organisation
