About the role:

Our client is a privately-owned company specialising in OHS, waste and environment consulting and management to a broad range of clients in a variety of industry sectors throughout Australia. Their team of technically qualified professionals specialise in hazardous materials, occupational hygiene, industrial chemistry, contaminated land management, hazardous waste management, hazardous chemicals audits and training. Due to a huge pipeline of work, an opportunity has arisen for a Licensed Asbestos Assessor (LAA) / Hazmat Consultant to join their Newcastle team on a permanent, full-time basis.

Our client is looking for a positive and reliable person to grow with their team. The selected candidate will be a team player who willingly offers support and assistance where needed. You will also be given exposure to other areas of Occupational Hygiene and also Contaminated Lands projects, expanding your technical capabilities.

Key responsibilities in the role will include the following:

• Conducting asbestos monitoring, including fibre count laboratory work
• Hazardous Materials and Asbestos surveys
• Provide asbestos assessment reports and recommendations
• Provide site supervision for asbestos removal projects
• Clearance inspections of friable & non-friable asbestos removal work
• Technical report writing, scope of works development & technical advice.

To be considered for the role it is essential that you hold:

• Current Asbestos Assessors License
• NATA asbestos fibre counting experience
• Minimum 2 years' experience carrying out Hazmat/Asbestos assessment, monitoring and reporting
• Current Australian Driver's License
• Able to travel interstate or overseas to project sites as required
• Australian Federal Police Check (for site access)
• Sound laboratory skills
• High level written and oral communication skills evidenced in your ability to produce routine technical reports and liaise with clients
• Ability to work well independently as well in a team environment 
• Computer literate - Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting.
