Summary
The role of the team is to provide analytics and insights that inform and ultimately influence the Business to maximise fact based decision making. For this to be done effectively, a Centre of Excellence (CoE) has been created to support an aligned approach across the various insights teams in the Customer Marketplace (CM).
The Role
As Suncorp continue to invest in advanced analytics and the field of data science, this role is to influence and help interpret the work being done across the business in the field and represent sales teams in the customer marketplace (CM).
Key Responsibilities
- Use your knowledge of data science and ability to deliver innovative solutions and help shape our analytics direction. Challenging accepted practices to transform the way the organization thinks about data and analytics.
- Establish and maintain data science artefacts.
- Investigate and advise on the use of data captured across a range of systems both internal and external.
- Determine the optimal approach for identifying and obtaining data from diverse source systems.
- Improvement and enhancement to reporting procedures through automation and optimization
- Ensure business solutions align to and assist the business to achieve strategy and vision.
- Key contributor to business working groups to provide delivery frameworks and standards.
- understanding of data science & advanced analytics capability and how that can be applied to tactical and strategic demands of the business
- Lead analytics consulting engagements to capture requirements and represent CM.
- Develop and foster working relationship to influence teams responsible for data acquisition, architecture and technology to support our needs.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science / Information Technology
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business or Mathematics
- Minimum 3+ years experience in or supporting an analytics team within insurance or Financial industry (preferred)
- Minimum 5+ years exposure to business infrastructure analysis, design and implementation.
- Proven experience in successful stakeholder management e.g. influencing, develop relationships, etc.
- Extensive experience of modern BI tools and platforms such Alteryx and Tableau platforms for data acquisition, transformation, processing and visualisations.
- Working knowledge of BI and analytics technologies such as Tableau, Alteryx, Mulesoft, Microsoft, AWS, IBM, Netezza and/or Collibra
- Advanced knowledge and experience in SQL/R/Shiny/Python
- Able to manipulate data from structured and unstructured sources
- Practical PostgreSQL and Redshift experience
- Strong understanding of statistics and machine learning
- Extensive experience in Data Modelling and Analytics using the conformed data models for operational descriptive analytics and predictive analytics
