The Organisation:

Australian Business Consulting & Solutions (ABCS) is currently seeking an experienced and skilled Entrepreneurs' Programme (EP) Advisor, to service the EP Programme that is proudly delivered by ABCS on behalf of the Department of Industry.

Your focus will be within the Food and Agribusiness Sectors and will be covering New England & North West NSW

The role of EP Advisor is to work with clients to improve their business strategy and operations in an advisory capacity. All aspects of a business are reviewed by the advisor with recommendations for improvement for action by the client. EP Advisors deliver Services in line with the Programme Delivery Documentation as advised by the Commonwealth from time to time and includes, but is not limited to:

  • Promotion and delivery of Business Management Services under the Entrepreneurs' Programme and on behalf of Australian Business Consulting & Solutions (ABCS) in the defined regions.
  • Growth of ABCS and Entrepreneur Programme branding and capability;
  • Delivering Business Evaluation Services to eligible businesses
  • Delivery of  Business Growth and Business Growth Grants to eligible businesses
  • Providing advice and mentoring to eligible businesses;
  • Assisting eligible businesses in developing their professional networks and providing connections;
  • Fostering innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement in eligible businesses;
  • Alliance building between eligible businesses;
  • Mapping capability and connections for eligible businesses;
  • Providing recommendations to eligible businesses to embed improvements in their business;
  • Engaging specialists in the provision of specialist services and advice;
  • Sharing of knowledge and expertise within the NSWBC cohort of EP Advisors;
  • Understanding and drawing on knowledge from the Industry Growth Centres;
  • Providing NSWBC and the Commonwealth with industry intelligence;

As an Advisor, you will be responsible for promoting and delivering EP services on behalf of the NSWBC and providing advice and mentoring to eligible businesses. You will grow the EP branding and capability by fostering innovation, productivity and continuous improvement, whilst assisting eligible businesses to develop professional networks and connections.

You will be identifying operational efficiencies of a business as well as primary areas of growth and will work with business to ensure that your recommendations are implemented.

To be successful, it is essential that you have the following skills and experience:

  • Senior level, typically 10 years, experience in business management, operational management or consulting preferably in the Food and Agribusiness industry sector as defined in the Programme Guidelines;
  • Excellent report-writing skills including the ability to communicate complex information to non-specialists in a clear and succinct way;
  • Be able to deal with/have experience advising SMEs, have the ability to impart business planning and financial literacy knowledge and upskill applicants in financial literacy, have experience around staff training/retention/workforce planning;
  • Established networks and relationships in their territory of management
  • Ability to read, interpret and analyse financial statements;
  • Demonstrated experience (or the ability to transfer relevant skills) to undertake and manage the delivery of services to businesses within a Government programme;
  • Advanced stakeholder, relationship and client management and engagement skills and experience;
  • Strong business analysis and systems analysis skills and experience;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, representation, influencing and negotiation skills;
  • Proven ability to use clear, concise language in correspondence as well as including content appropriate for the purpose and audience when preparing written briefs and reports;
  • Demonstrated experience in business development and actively building, maintaining and managing a pipeline of customers.
  • Respect for and sensitivity to, the diversity of the Australian public when delivering services.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
