The position of Senior Investigator forms a part of the Maritime Safety Victoria Division within the Transport Safety Victoria.
TSV is Victoria's integrated safety regulator for bus, maritime & rail transport. It is headed by the Director, Transport Safety whose statutory object is to independently seek the highest transport safety standards consistent with the transport system's vision & objectives under the Transport Integration Act 2010.
The Senior Investigator is a key role which will build capability in the area of strategic investigations within the Maritime Safety branch to contribute to improved maritime safety outcomes for the Victorian community. This role will oversee the conduct of strategic investigations undertaken by members of the maritime safety branch in accordance with Maritime Safety Victoria's regulatory approach and best practice. The Senior Investigator will develop effective and efficient systems of work and provide advice and subject matter expertise to the broader maritime branch forinvestigations into breaches of marine safety law. The role will also provide training, guidance and mentoring to other staff to facilitate effective and efficientcompliance investigations and the utilisisation of the full suite of available regulatory tools as appropriate.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Substantial relevant and recent work experience in conducting complex safety investigations.
- Formal qualifications in investigations, law or a related discipline would be highly regarded.
- An awareness of and exposure to how investigations can be used strategically to improve safety outcomes.
