Your Opportunity

 

As the National Manager for Service Design & Development (covering a maternity leave contract from Sep 2018 for a minimum of 9 months), you will drive the design and development of Mission Australia’s services in response to emerging service needs and best practice, sector and market trends, and service experience and innovation. Critical to this role is driving the organisation’s strategy and practice capability for client engagement and community development.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a small team of service designers and practice specialists to ensure Mission Australia’s service modelling and practice is impact focused and innovative
  • Manage an effective pipeline of service designs that reflect business needs and priorities, and is able to translate effectively into operational designs for business growth/development
  • Grow and strengthen Mission Australia’s community development practice, supporting the organisation’s goal for ‘Strengthening Communities’
  • Increase the organisation’s capability for being client-informed in design and delivery of services
  • Increase the organisation’s capacity for innovation (through Design Thinking approaches)
  • Provide strategic advice to the organisation as required in relation to emerging service needs, sector and market trends
  • ·         Maintain active relationships to inform design and delivery of key objectives, ensure relevance to practice and purpose, and continue to drive performance improvement through service design and development

Requirements for Success

  • 5 -8 years' experience in community/human services domain
  • Broad knowledge of research, co-design and analysis methods
  • Strong analyproblem-solvingem solving skills and technical ability
  • Proven ability to build strong, respectful and robust relationships, internally and externally
  • Proven ability to synthesise and analyse complex information
  • People and project management experience and an understanding of Design Thinking
  • The ability to navigate ambiguity, bring clarity to complex problems and influence change
  • An interest in social innovation and impact investment would be advantageous
