Statecraft is a leading boutique strategy firm concentrating on the nexus between the public- and private-sectors. We advise foreign and domestic clients on policy and regulatory issues related to acquiring Australian assets, entering foreign markets and achieving other commercial outcomes. The firm is located in the Circular Quay area of the Sydney CBD.
About the Role
We're looking for a finance/accounting/business graduate with a demonstrable interest in politics and international trade.
You will be exposed to a range of clients, including both foreign and domestic multinational corporations, and have significant direct interaction with clients. You'll be delivering a wide variety of tasks, from analysing potential investment targets for clients to managing delivery of ongoing projects.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent analytical and organisational skills. Specific responsibilities include:
- Researching the market dynamics, competitive landscape and investment climate for potential investments into highly regulated sectors of the Australian economy
- Creating and maintaining financial models for potential investments
- Analysing risks, opportunities and expected cash flows for potential investments
- Analyse the effect of regulations and tax policies on projects' NPVs and investment opportunities
- Writing business plans, investment memoranda and other collateral to support the investment acquisition process
- Managing multiple ongoing projects and overseeing outstanding actions and deliverables
Skills and experience
Recently graduated or early-career professional with a track record of leadership and solid academic achievement. The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in commerce, finance, business, law or related discipline(s)
- 1 to 5 years of experience in Accounting, Finance or a related Business field.
- A demonstrated interest in domestic and international politics, government policy and international trade
- Excellent Excel skills; familiarity with Word and PowerPoint
- Budgeting and forecasting abilities
- Financial and data analysis skills
- Ability to manage multiple work streams on different topics in a multitude of sectors simultaneously, prioritise and deliver to deadlines
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Mandarin language skills (both written and spoken) a plus
- Experience with investment and lending transactions a strong plus
- Experience with investor relations and communications a strong plus
- Experience writing reports, and overall good writing skills, a strong plus
