About this role
This role supports the Principal Policy Officer, Surgery by developing and supporting the implementation of best practice policies, programs, projects, and activities for the Ministry of Health, public health organisations, and related government agencies. The role provides policy advice to support the achievement of NSW Health?s objectives in relation to health system purchasing and performance with specific focus on elective surgery waitlist management.

Where you'll be working
System Purchasing Branch, NSW Ministry of Health.
System Purchasing Branch (SPB) partners with the health system to purchase and enable quality health care service delivery. SPB is responsible for developing and operationalising the Purchasing Framework for NSW Health, leading the development and negotiation of the Service Agreements with NSW Health entities and providing expert advice and targeted support in emergency access, surgical services and ambulatory care to improve health system performance and ultimately, the health outcomes for people in NSW.

What you'll be doing
The Senior Policy Officer provides information and advice to Senior Executives, staff within the Ministry of Health, public health organisations and related government agencies on elective surgery access. A key component of this role is providing advice to the public through the Surgery Access Line. The role undertakes review of NSW Health policies in the surgery portfolio and assists the Principal Policy Officer, Surgery in performance monitoring for Local Health Districts to meet elective surgery access targets. The Senior Policy Officer role will plan, manage and monitor projects assigned to the surgery team and prepare high quality written reports, briefs, correspondence as required to respond to agency or government requests
