Detail information about job INNOVATION PROJECTS MANAGER - 12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Flexible 35-hour work week
  • Ability to work across multiple departments and innovation projects
  • Prestigious and convenient University of Sydney Camperdown Campus working location

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Plan and execute USU project activities in cooperation with and under the direction of the Director of Innovation Programs. Work with and provide project management and project documentation services, advice and expertise to key stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU:

The ideal candidate has an innovative, positive and solutions-focused mindset, is consultative in their approach, and is comfortable working with and presenting to a wide range of stakeholders.

This role would be ideal for someone looking to work in a collaborative environment and further develop their project management skills.

The successful candidate may also contribute to other department activities such as the INCUBATE accelerator program for startups within the University of Sydney.

WHO ARE YOU:

You think cross-functionally, across departments and bring people together to deliver solutions. The successful person will have technical aptitude, but more importantly can listen and gauge the right questions to ask of the team and colleagues. You are experienced at staff and stakeholder management, conflict resolution, Board reporting, and strategic thinking.

Entrepreneurship, startups and innovation form key functions of the role. Although there are specialist Program Managers to work with the entrepreneurs and startups on a day-to-day basis, this role needs to be able to develop and grow this function, so exposure and experience in the startup ecosystem is essential. This may be through being an entrepreneur yourself, growing new or existing businesses, managing accelerator programs or similar university startup programs, mentoring, or from building a startup.

You’ll need a conceptual or general understanding of IT systems, preferably including Salesforce (or similar CRM). You can communicate effectively and guide the experienced USU IT Team, and be their representative at Senior Executive level.

Naturally you’ll work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify challenges, demonstrate thought leadership and innovation best practice by creating new ways of working, and encouraging new ways of thinking.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project management and business analysis
  • Process optimisation and continuous improvement
  • Salesforce implementation
  • Website redevelopment
  • Marketing input to innovation and internal activities

Suitably qualified and experienced candidates should provide a resume and a cover letter that addresses each selection criteria item listed above

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience in project management, business, administration or account management with strong attention to detail
  • Sound organisation, administration and planning skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks, challenging projects and competing deadlines concurrently
  • Ability to liaise, interact and communicate effectively and easily with a broad range of stakeholders, both internal and external, in a professional and ethical manner
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically and to plan ahead
  • A positive and collaborative approach to team work as well as the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, exercising initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to tight schedules and budgets
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly the Microsoft Suite and Google applications including ability to use a range of online planning and event tools

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the development of business and technology apps and websites
  • Demonstrated experience with Sales Force and enterprise architecture solutions
  • Experience working in government or not-for-profit environment

BENEFITS:

  • An $11 meal card per day worked
  • 5% Annual Leave Loading
  • A complimentary ACCESS card giving discounts on and off campus (valued at $75 per year)
  • Generous paid leave entitlements including 4 additional paid grant days per year
  • Ongoing paid training and development
